Hare Krishna Temples, Philadelphia, vrsafilm

In the late sixties the Hare Krishna devotees went to Philadelphia to open a temple. They became known for chanting the Hare Krishna mantra and for distributing spiritual literature based on the Vedic teachings. The current temple was opened in 1976 and the deities Radha Sarad-Bihari were installed a few years later. There is a popular Govinda’s restaurant downtown serving sanctified vegan and vegetarian food.
